This Sap and maple sap too!
Hi Marta - since you asked (thanks for caring!) Sugarbushing went great! I have two set-ups I am involved with. THe first is local(West rural edge suburbs of Minneapolis - a town called Minnetrista) whre for the first year ever we tapped 20 of my Dad's maple trees and have collected and boild down about 80 gallons of sap to produce 2 gallons of syrup. Yummy and fun. IN fact I have two large kettles steaming away in the driveway as we speak - have to keep an eye on the fluid levels though. I am using turkey deepfryers (now on sale at Home Depot) to boil the sap and I fell asleep with the first batch which boiled dry, converting the aluminum bucket into a slag pile of modern art on My Dad's driveway (not so cool). The second operation is in Northern Wisconsin where a friend's family has over 2 square miles of forest - over 200 trees tapped and boiled 600 gallons last weekend yielding about 15 gallons of syrup. Multiple guys (and gals) involved. I got about a gallon for my efforts ( and two slight hangovers - one Saturday morning and one sunday morning). Nothing like keeping large wood fires burning all night in the clear Spring skies fueled on Whiskey and Coke and various meat products. Also got my first deer tick bite EVER! Hooray for long term, chronic demyelinating syndromes with limited medical cures! Rock ON! Makes the syrup all that much sweeter. (All DEER ticks must die!). PS -I took the morning after pill. I hope it works.

So - thanks for asking - thanks for caring - thanks for the Gnooze! AS Don Heanly and the Eagles said,
"There's a Gnooze Kid in Town..." (man I cant get that out of my head - QUick hit me with the Mahmoud Ahmadinijad! Oh great - out of the frying pan into the fire...

"Keep it together!" Was that line inspired by Eddie Murphy's role as the paranoid movie star in Bowfinger?

You failed to mention the most important news item of the day. (Since I'm writing fewer blog posts these days, I have to pimp them more. Sorry.)
